The course, very important from the Naturalistic point of view, is in the “Parco Nazionale della Majella” (National Park of Majella) located between the famous “Valle dell’Orfento” (Orfento Valley) and the “Valle di San Bartolomeo” (San Bartolomeo’s Valley) (patron saint of butchers and tanners), a valley that contains the Hermitage (600mt asl) which develops under a huge stone roof, church and home of monks who, in spiritual and physical training, through abstinence from food, isolation, meditation and prayer looked for interior perfection and separation from the world and instincts.
On the way back you go along a descending path of grass, cobbles and rocks which is very characteristic because it faces the “Valle dell’Orfento” (Orfento’s Valley) and the town of “Caramanico terme“.
