“Giro della Campania” Off-Road Trophy
In 2011, the sixth edition took place of the “Giro della Campania” Off-Road Trophy, a circuit designed to combine the most important mountain-bike events in central-southern Italy, promoting the sport of mountain-biking in a region which is rarely mentioned in the off-road context.
The circuit was divided into five stages, beginning at the end of May and finishing in September. The first stage, which took place on May 29th, could also claim to be the “oldest”, having reached its seventh edition: this is known as the “Granfondo Valle del Sele”, and is located at Contursi Terme (SA). The second stage was held on June 12th at Avellino, celebrating the third edition of the “Granfondo del Partenio”.
Competition began again on August 28th with the first edition of the “Granfondo del Monte Maggiore” at Alvignano (CE), and the last two stages took place on September 11th and 18th respectively, with the “Granfondo del Castelluccio” at Battipaglia and the “Granfondo dei Monti Picentini” at Giffoni sei Casali.
