Venetien

The region of Veneto offers a wide variety of terrain, with plains, hills, lakes, plateaus and mountains, each with something to satisfy all cycling fans.

The most interesting landscape in the plains is the delta of the River Po, above all for excursions on the riverbanks and along the thousands of streams and canals that run between the mouth of the Po and the River Adige. Along these paths, without difficulty and suitable for all bikers, the route leads through flourishing vegetation, between lagoons and islands that appear and then disappear with the ebb and flow of the tides.
The Euganian Hills lie to the southwest of Padua, where routes lead through a pleasant landscape rich in woods of chestnut, oak and elms, linking places of great artistic and environmental interest, such as the spa centre of Abano Terme, the medieval township of Arquà Tetrarca, the walled city of Cittadella, the medieval village of Montagnana, and Cataio and Galzignano.
The famous "Transeuganea" mountain bike race starts from Abano Terme in May.

On the eastern shore of Lake Garda, near Verona, there are many routes that are favourites with bikers, including a trail used for training by Olympic champion Paola Pezzo, and the area offers a wide variety of landscapes and a mild climate that permits rides all year round.

The Asiago plateau has a great number of dirt tracks left by the battles of the First World War fought here, and the characteristic landscape, with its undulating plain covered with pastures and conifers, is ideal for mountain bikes.

From Altavilla Vicentina the exciting routes of the Iberici and San Bonifacio Hills can easily be reached, and one particularly interesting trail to follow leads visitors on a tour of local castles.
