On October 17, will run the Tour of Lombardy in 2009.
There are big names of the cycling world: Philippe Gilbert and Cadel Evans of Silence-Lotto, respectively winners of the Coppa Sabatini, the Paris-Tours and Great Piedmont, the first and the rainbow jersey at the Cycling World Championships Mendrisio of 2009, the second one; Samuel Sanchez, Olympic champion in 2008 in Beijing, Kolobnev Saxo Bank, iron medal in Mendrisio and many other top class cyclists.
The Tour of Lombardy is a one day race and signs the end of the cycling season.
Since this year, it is part of the UCI world circuit.
A track of 242 kilometers from Varese to Como, with the passage to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo, shrine of all cyclists.
The victory goes to the German Gilbert, closely followed by Sanchez. Third Kolobnev.
Since 2001, the Tour of Lombardy was in the hands of the Italians: Di Luca, Bettini and Bartali twice, three Cunego.
