The 63rd edition of the Vuelta a España, ends with the victory of the Spanish Alejandro Valverde, Caisse d'Epargne (GCE) Team. A real triumph for Spanish cycling.
Valverde won the overall lead in the ninth stage, Alcoy - Xorret de Cati, and remained the first till Madrid, winning the gold jersey and the best combined rankings!
Third classification for the green jersey by Daniele Bennati, Liquigas Team, only fourth the Italian Ivan Basso, Liquigas, in the overall standings.
