August 29-September 20
Tomorrow, 19th September, runs the last mountain stage of the Tour of Spain, 180 km, four mountain passes, including three challenging and prohibitive slops, that make feel the fatigue accumulated during these three cycling weeks.
The stage starts in Avila and finishes at La Granja Royal Glass Factor.
Three slopes to face: Puerto del León, Navacerrada twice in both directions, and Morcuera.
The first ascent of Navacerrada is 9.8 km, average slope of 7% with peaks of 10%, just three kilometers from the finish, the second and final climb of the Navacerrada, is 11.9 km long, average slope of 6% with peaks of 10% at the end. Between the two, the cyclists face Morcuera, 11.5 km and an average slope of 5.6%.
The last 18 kilometers of the race is downhill and perhaps even more selective than splopes.
This is the last chance to improve the ranking for climbers and to expect some surprises.
This stage may reveal the riders who will challenge for the gold jersey, or the winner of this edition of the Vuelta 2009.
