Popes’ city

A cycling itinerary along Canterno Lake to reach Anagni,  the middle age “Popes’City”

Just out of the Hotel turn left, go down the Prenestina for 600 m. When you reach the old stadium, turn right and go on the main road, direction Canterno Lake. Go streight on, for approximately 6 km, following a pleasent course. Approaching the lake the panorama becomes more interesting with beautiful sights on the Ernici Mounts. Beyond

the panorama on Canterno Lake, the road starts to go up with discrete slopes. When those soft, turn right (km 7.5, indications towards Porciano). After this easy bit, a short rise (14%) carries out towards the small church of Sant’Erasmo. Here the slopes become more flexible and regular and the panorama opens on the Lepini Mounts and the Valley of Sacco, almost

in Rome. Shortly after the end of the rise (total 4.3 km, average slope 5,2%), leave the crossroads on the right, which leads to the village. Walk on a very panoramic light descent and, after the crossroads to Castellone (height 772 m), follow for one km the very stiff descent (even more of the 15%). Here turn left on the main road, Anagni direction. From here, the most pleasant moment: the route goes down gently crossing the countryside. After this gently road, it bucks (1 km to the 10%) till Anagni at the level of the crossroads meadows the hospital (from here you can program a visit to the city). Then follow the road back till the crossing of Porciano. At this point continue and follow the rise (Fiuggi direction) for one km (in total 7.1 km of regular rise 4%). Once at the crossing which leads to Colleborano, go down on the right and following the soft descent reach the hotel.
