On Mount Grammondo
Leaving Ventimiglia, you will cycle along the border between Italy and France.
Mount Grammondo is 1,376 m. high and here you can enjoy a breathtaking view over Ventimiglia and Menton.
Paved paths will take you to the terraced hills where olive trees grow (almost neglectfully) next to the maquis: cluster-pine trees, Aleppo Pine trees, holm-oaks, and strong and flourishing brooms that will accompany you up to the top of the mountain.
The top of Mount Grammondo is made up of limestone that dates back to the Jurassic era (about 170 million years ago).
The top is actually made up of two tops with practically the very same height: on the “main” top you can see a cross and on the “second” top you will find a war memorial and a characteristic small chaple with a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Here you will also find a series of copy books on which visitors can write down their opinions and thoughts about the difficult though striking climbing of the mountain.
