Length: 70 km
Time: 7 hours
It is a tour between Italy and Switzerland, suitable for the most trained cyclists, due to its length and its difference in heigth. You ride on dirt roads, cycle paths and muletracks and sometimes you have to carry your bicycle. From Livigno you go up to Val Federia, along the way used in the past by the voyagers going to Switzerland. From Plan dell’isolata, a spectacular plateau, encircled by chalets, you reach the Cassana Rifugio (2601 mt) and the Cassana Pass (2694 mt) by a military muletrak. The Cassana Pass is a wide grassy pass, the higher point of this route. Then you come down the spectacular Val Chaschauna, in Switzerland, and you can meet chamois, steinbocks and, lower, also red deers. From the Alp Chaschauna begins a wide dirt road that brings to Engadina, in Samaden direction. After Pontresina, you go up in a larch forest till Monterasch station. From here, you go to Val dal Fain and to the Stretta Pass (2476 mt), from where you have to carry your bicycle till the cycle path back to Livigno.
