Monte Conero

Monte Conero

Who said that the Adriatic coast from the Karst to the Gargano is flat and monotonous? Certainly not those who have had the pleasure of discovering the Monte Conero by bike. Beautiful cycling adventures that actually move the seemingly flat sandy strip of the Adriatic. Just look behind the sea. We are near Ancona and here begins one of the most evocative itineraries of these places. The Riviera del Conero to discover by mountain bike, perhaps starting with a bike hotel in the Marche.

The adventure can begin with an itinerary that crosses panoramic areas on limestone spurs and then immersed in the nature with forests of oaks, Aleppo’s pines, pines, cypresses with pleasant grassy clearings that open to the Pian di Raggetti and moments of history and architecture such as the discovery of the Church of San Pietro or the former convent of Camaldoli.

We are in the Conero Regional Park, managed by the Consortium which has drawn a number of trails within the protected area, all rich in environmental values.

One of the suggested itineraries, starting from the famous beach of Sirolo, climbs steep side on the mountain starting from the Restaurant “Cave”(170 m above the sea level) to finish to the Monastery of Camaldoli (475 m). It is a stretch of about 3 km and an altitude difference of 305 m, through a forest vegetation characterized by a few hairpins turn overlooking the sea. From the parking of the Convent a military road leading to the peak and the Pian dei Raggetti.
