This region of completely mountainous territory is a true paradise for everyone looking for fantastic excitement on their bikes, whether on mountain bike trails or on roads.
The broad valleys of the River Adige and its tributaries, dotted with tall bell-towers amongst the greenery of orchards and the thick pine forests, are like scenes from a painting that can be lived in the open air on a bicycle.
Trentino offers a variety of mountain tracks forming spectacular routes that seem tailor-made both for mountain bike racers and for bikers preferring a more leisurely pace through the beauties of nature, as for instance on the routes near Carano di Cavalese, San Candido, San Vigilio di Marebbe and Torbole sul Garda.
It is no coincidence that so many events are held here every year, attracting thousands of bikers from Italy and abroad, and these events include the legendary “Rampilonga” at Moena, the “Rampikissima” at Imer and the European bikers’ rally held at Riva del Garda in May.
As can be imagined, every town and village in Trentino is the starting point for one or more routes that link lakes and mountains, such as that leading from Riva del Garda to Madonna di Campiglio in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, which give fine views first over Lake Garda and then over the region’s typical mountain panoramas.
Another route leads from Predazzo to San Martino di Castrozza and Fiera di Primiero, with a classic climb up to the Rolle Pass. San Martino di Castrozza is set against the backdrop of the Pale di San Martino, one of the most spectacular group of mountains in the Dolomites. From the lake at Levico there are many exciting routes, all with breathtaking views to be admired, and one of these, the “Menador Tamazol”, leads along tracks built during the First World War.
